Screwed Up Till The Casket Drop
-
DJ Lil Steve is the originator of the slow down shit & screw tape
-
Screw weren't the 1st to slow shit down that's correct cause I remember back in the late 80s them florida kats JPE (Jam Pony Express) was slowin they tapes down way before ppl even knew who Screw was.
But Screw is the Originator of "Tap Tap".
But D. Scott and Micheal Price did slow shit down first in TX it all started with alternating your boombox with a "Screw". Then D. Scott took it to another level on the 1s and 2s.
I got a few D. Scott Tapes they're OK nothin special about em except for them being Collector's Items.
THEY'RE NOTHIN' LIKE A "SCREWTAPE"!!!!!!! I REPEAT.....THEY'RE NOTHIN' LIKE A "SCREWTAPE"!!!.

actually darrell scotts 11 1/2 is a fuckin classic. i use to have it son. lol. n if i dont feel the same way thats jus the way i feel thats y we individuals

DJ Screw did more then slow the record down No one can make a screwtape but screw leave the topic alone before y'all start Disrespecting that man.

what's that?
at the end of the day, Screw made it popular...and unlike most S/C dj's (even today)...he actually had some good turntable skills to back up it up plus he rallied houston rappers to make one powerful rap scene.

"Tap Tap" means choppin'....And Screw did make it popular and he did have skillz no doubt about that. I've heard tapes from Screw that sounded like he was workin 4 tables at once. I mean the nigga was str8 beastin' it all through the tapes.

Screw even admitted himself he originally saw some other dude slow a record down and he liked the idea. He took that idea and Screwed up the whole world. There is absolutely nothing like a real authentic Screw tape. No one can chop it, and mix it like he did, add Screw's Syrupy voice hosting the tapes, and some throwed ass G's wreckin' the mic, nothing can imitate it. Especially nowadays, nobody even uses records anymore. Screw kept it real until he died and only used records. Who cares who first slowed a record down, Screw got his door kicked in by the DEA because he was selling so many tapes out of his house, they thought he was selling drugs. No one can repeat what that man did.

sorry for the late late reply, I didn't realize you responded.
DJ Screw didn't originate "tap tap" or "choppin". It's one of the oldest turntable effects in the turntable world.
-
im pretty sure screw invented doin nothin but slowed up music
-
if you ask any old old timers even before rap there was dj's slowing down music
it doesn't even matter if screw didn't invent shit
he still did it best

No one had applied it to song the way Screw did. That's what made his shit stand out.

no, the slowing down the pitch to his mixtapes what made him stand out. Again, chopping/taptap/beatjuggling/walking/tapping/cutting whatever term u wanna call it is an old dj effect. It's as old as scratching. Listen to any decent turntablist and you will here them "tap tap", normally they use the technique to help speed up the beat to transition easier into the other song.
