Racist Anti-Muslim Obama Billboard Stirs Controversy
Anti-Obama billboard in suburban Denver, Colorado stirs controversy; asks for birth certificate - KDVR
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - Call it Freedom of Speech. A billboard recently erected in Wheat Ridge compares President Barack Obama to a terrorist and questions his U.S. citizenship.
The billboard, located at 4855 Miller Road, shows two cartoonish images of Obama wearing a Muslim turban and reads "PRESIDENT or JIHAD?"
It also says "BIRTH CERTIFICATE - PROVE IT!" alluding to the conspiracy theory which claims Barack Obama was born in Kenya rather than Hawaii, which would disqualify him for the office of President.
The words "WAKE UP AMERICA! REMEMBER FT. HOOD!" appear on the bottom of the billboard.
The sign belongs to a car dealership.
"Since Fort Hood, I've had it," owner Phil Wolf told FOX 31 News Friday. "You can't suggest things. You can't profile. You gotta call a spade a spade."
"Everything I have read about Mr. Obama points right to the fact that he is a Muslim. And that is the agenda of what Muslim is all about. It's about anti-American, it's about anti-Christianity," Wolf said.
The Anti-Defamation League condemned the sign, as did AM760 radio host David Sirota, who discussed the sign and interviewed Wolf on his program Friday morning.
"It's out of control," Sirota said. "This conservative hatred of Barack Obama is out of contol, and this brings together all those strands of it: the racism, the anti-Muslim fervor. It's one thing to criticise the president on health care, or Wall Street reform, or immigration. But this is outrageous. And I think it's a fair question to ask why these questions about religion and ancestry are being directed so viciously at the first African-American President of the United States."
While the ADL issued a statement calling the billboard an exploitation of the Ft. Hood shootings that is "divisive and offensive, and perpetuates hateful and harmful stereotypes about Muslims", prominent conservatives have been silent thus far.
"That could suggest that conservative leaders are afraid to confront the extreme fringe of their base," Sirota said. "Or it suggests they actually condone this message. Either way, it's disturbing."
Sirota is an unabashed liberal, but not all self-identified conservatives who drove past the sign Friday disagree with him.
"I'm not concerned with that at all," said Linda Alexander, of Golden, in regard to the dispute over President Obama's American citizenship. "He was elected, he's the president -- that's it, as far as I'm concerned. Some people just can't accept that, obviously."
But Keith Walters, another passing driver, saw nothing wrong with the billboard.
"I can't honestly say he's a Jihadist, but there's a lot of things that are questionable," Walters said. "The whole birth certificate controversy. From what I've read, there's no proof Obama isn't a Muslim. And I don't believe there's any racism [in the billboard]. I think that should be a question asked to any president who -- they have some questionable backgrounds."
Supporters of the birth certificate theory, known as 'Birthers,' believe the Certification of Live Birth produced by the state of Hawaii is a forgery.

Politics are so stupid right now. The republicans will go against anything Obama is trying to do and the democrats can't even get their shit together to take advantage of a super majority. Now everyone is hating on Obama, saying he hasn't done anything. For you that don't know the GDP is back up to normal which means that employment will be back to normal soon. He has tried to do everything possible to get healthcare, but republicans will not work with him. They have no real reasons to be against it other than the fact that Obama wants it.
Republicans worked to keep the economy bad so they could take some seats for the elections this year and want the economy to stay bad for another 2 years so they can win the presidential election. Now they are all saying "where is all that change that was promised?" Its not like the president can press a magic button to change things, its a process and that process doesn't work when 100% of the republicans are against everything put out there.

Sounds like a socialist nation to you? Canada, France, Germany, Britain... In fact EVERY SINGLE first world nation except the United States has universal health care. They are all capitalist countries. They may have social programs, like we have Social Security and Medicare, but until the government says "you can't start a business" to private citizens, we are not living in a socialist country. And that will never happen, so don't worry.
You say that people who support Obama are just "sheep" but all I ever hear from the other side are the same lies and mis-informative talking points. Do some fact checking, otherwise you're out of your league.
I'll throw out some arguments that you can use in the future: The Patriot Act, signed into law by George Bush in order to give the government the ability to get into personal emails, phone calls, medical records, etc. This is a blatant violation of our right to privacy, no matter which way you try to twist it. Obama recently renewed it before it expired. This isn't a Democrat vs Republican issue. This is an American People vs American Gov't issue.
You can also talk about things he has failed to do, that the president should do. For example, why hasn't he decriminalized drug use, or at least removed the jail sentence from using drugs. We pay huge sums of money to keep prisoners in jail, so shouldn't we make sure that only the violent offenders are kept in there, instead of the harmless stoners? That would give us a huge tax break.
Go to politifact.com, not CNN or FOX or any of that biased shit.

As far as the gays in the military, its not like gays aren't allowed in there now. They just can't say if they are gay or not so all your points make no sense. With healthcare, if you didn't know, Hawaii has had government run healthcare for like 30 years it is considered the best in the U.S.

I'm white and I voted for him.. I know plenty of women who voted for McCain because of Sarah Palin, and plenty of white people who voted for McCain because Obama was black. What's your point? Racism exists. Shit, Brown v Board was only 45 years ago! Think about it, that means that there are alot of folks who are still alive who were born and raised in segregated America.
We all know, based on the facts, that McCain would have done a worse job. I mean, he thinks tax cuts actually help the economy! Show me one respectable economist who still holds that viewpoint. Tax cuts sound great to voters, but they ruin the country. Just look at the economy in last few years of the Bush/Bush Sr./Reagan presidencies to see what effect they have.

Granted, the first one's a biased site, but the numbers they use for this study are all from nonpartisan organizations, like the Congressional Budget Office. The numbers don't lie, contrary to what Bush said back in '00 (anyone remember when he kept repeating "funny Washington math" during the debates?)
