im prolly leanin towards just 2 18's cuz i dont feel like doin to much to the elec. system . towncars are all computerized and one wrong move and the whole elec. system will be fucked , so im thinkin a bat.or two and h/o alt , big 3 wit 0/1 guage and i should be good .

Depending on the actual size of your trunk, 1 18 will be more than enough because you don't want 2 big ass woofers and not having the proper size for them, and will make those good SMDs 18s sound like shit. I had 2 18d and was almost was the size of a fucking wall, and I have a Nissan xterra. Unless if you want a 15, I got a DC Level 5 15 that I will be finishing rebuilding by next week, and for sale for $500 since the cone is brand spanky new. Can take 3.5k rms with no problem. But i had just 1 18 on 3500 and I thought that was enough. Lol. And for the electrical, it just depends on what kind of power you want to run. I got 2 xs power batteries(d3400 and d3100), 270a dc power alternator, and just enough for 4k. Hit me up if you got any question with the box, and i got a device.that will tune your amp perfectly which will not cause your sub to blow. And btw, that's my boy Richard aka twistedchild420 on the first vid. He has a new set up now and with 6 15s only I think.

Btw, stay tune for my new build, 1 18 and 5k rms......gonna be A LOT louder than my old set up.

What is your budget for the amp/sub? You can either spend $200 on a set up, or $2000. It's usually depends what you gonna go with.
Sub - DC audio, incriminator audio, digital designs, fi car audio, ascendent audio, skar audio, sound solutions audio, sundown audio....many more that I can't think of

Amp - incriminator audio, sundown audio, crescendo audio, digital designs, kicker(just amp that are very good), Rockford fosgate, RD audio, stetsom, soundigital, and more that I can't think of again. LOL.

Quality companies, but can be pricey sometimes.

its gonna be a while before i do any major upgrades cuz i just dropped 2k into a new motor in my TC (stock 4.6)

all i have now is 2 kenwood kfc3012's on an 1800w kenwood amp(900rms) , im workin on a fiber glass box for 4-12's (cuz i have 2 more brand new kfc3012's in my closet collecting dust)
im using a sealed sub box i had before i got the ported one , i cut the top off and cut 2 sub holes in it then cut the diameter around each sub , i forgot to take pics of the start but ill take some all through the finish and post'em up. ill mount and brace the mounting structure at an angle so all 4 subs are firing at the same level on the custom port im tuning into the back from the bottom curved up to the top.

given that i do have one of the biggest trunks on the market , im still working with limited air space and the more i put in , the less room i have to move air . so after im done wit this box im gonna fiberglass a custom port/vent in my back glass in the 8" sub hole(port wont be 8" tho , im thinkin 6" diameter and about 18"-20" long)

...almost forgot , you already know im gonna need to get another 1800w(900rms) amp to power everything nicely, and i know 900+900=1800rms still aint gonna give me what your 3500rms will even with proper acoustical tuning , but i like kenwood and my car is a family car(meaning i ride wit my kids alot) so i cant really go all out like i want too.

i got alot of my shit off ebay , only from top rated sellers tho. all still sealed in the factory box's.

example: my kfc3012's retail for around $140-150 , i got all 4 for $50 a piece so $200 for 4 $150 subs = one happy bass head

amps a lil different , i actually payed $350 at best buy because ebay only had shitty refurbished ones and i dont want rebuilt used shit , gotta be fresh.

as far as the "name brand" goes , thats completely up to you homie . im not gonna say kenwood is better than any other mainly cuz i know personally that some off the wall name brands can hang with/out beat mainstream names like kenwood or JL . it all depends on your knowledge and budget . i can pretty much build any system you could dream of but thats due to my background with carpentry , residential/mobile electrician (not licensed tho gnr) and the little car knowledge i have .


the best way for me to help you understand ohms and watts is to tell you to google and/or wiki and/or youtube search " ohms law " and " basic audio knowledge " (or know how or car audio for dummies )

it would take me all day to type up everything there is to know about it gnr , so i hope this helps you.

@soufwess - KFC series are awsome SQ subs , bass is real clean and pronounced. it just don't put out SPL numbers like subs designed specifically for SPL like DD's and DC's which are mainly built for competition.

can u post a pic of the 3013's , I honestly didn't know kenwood had a 3013. is it like the 3012 but wit DVC instead of SVC or something ?????????????????????

those are prettymuch a newer cheaper(price wise) model of the 3012's , good choice too.
I can't say about the amp cuz I have no experience wit audiopipe but the numbers match up so it should work just fine. personally I like my components to match , plus it makes it easier to tune just right, but for a beginner you'll be bangin pretty hard.

last bit of advice - they sound best in a ported box tuned between 32 - 35HZ wit 1.75 - 2 cubic ft of airspace per sub.
